A helpful reminder of changes taking place on the 1st October 2015

  • Changes to the minimum wage: Adult rate will increase from £6.50 to £6.70.
  • Tribunals: In discrimination cases, tribunals will lose some power to make wider recommendations. Tribunals will only be able to make recommendations relating to the individual complainant.
  • Self Employment: If a self employed person has no employees, they will become exempt from certain health and safety laws.
  • The right for Sikhs to wear turbans instead of safety helmets will be expanded to all workplaces, it is currently only allowed on building sites. Subject to various exceptions.
